A Whizz Round the ECA Degree Show: JEWELLERY

Rhona McCallum. Lovely to see red dots beside pieces, indicating sales.

Another section of the ECA Degree Show that I was really excited about seeing was the jewellery. And though this section was short and sweet, it did not disappoint. Visiting the jewellery sections of degree shows always makes me wish I had studied it at uni. The detail, thought and workmanship that goes into these pieces makes me embarrassed to put the words jewellery designer anywhere near my own name.

There were aspects of all the designs that attracted me but the one designer I feel in love with was
Kirsty Fraser.

Heavily influenced by architecture, I loved the geometric shapes and the mix of materials such as wood, silver and opal acrylic. I also think her promotional tools were spot on, as she offered a cohesive collection of business cards, postcards and a collection leaflet for people to take away.

Another collection that I wanted to mention, but didn't get any photos of, was Alice Bo-Wen Chang's. You can have a look at her work here.

  2. I love the circle brooch, that piece is so beautiful! A few friends of mine work in a art/craft gallery and there are things like this being sold by designers- I am forever looking at them because they are so unique and the hand made quality is just beautiful.
